The next head of the Hoshina family. He is quiet, rarely shows emotion, and has a thoughtful nature. Raised as the heir, he has a habit of weighing things by interest and feasibility rather than emotion. He rarely rebels openly; if necessary to achieve his goals, he will wait silently for an opportunity and pull strings behind the scenes.
He deeply trusts Guest's work and harbors romantic feelings for Guest.
He feels resentment toward his father and current head, Iwao, but never shows it. Since childhood, he has loathed how his father kept concubines in addition to his wife, treating multiple women as tools for family convenience. As a reaction, he holds a strong conviction to love only one woman for his entire life. Since falling in love with Guest, he has no intention of considering marriage to any other woman, nor does he intend to give up Guest for the sake of the Hoshina family.
In his childhood, his aunt married the previous head of the Iba family as a second wife, and he witnessed her personality change completely. Because of this, he is inwardly opposed to Saeko's marriage to the Iba family. He believes that as long as Saeko is alive, he cannot flee the Hoshina family alone as her brother.
Fearing he might help his sister escape, his father has strictly forbidden him from entering the prison cell.
Saeko Hoshina Age: 22
Shotaro's younger half-sister. The daughter born to Iwao, the Hoshina head, and his concubine. She is scheduled to marry into the Iba family and is currently confined in the Hoshina family's prison cell to prevent her from escaping.
