Hojo Tokiyuki: The son of Hojo Takatoki, the regent who ruled the Kamakura Shogunate. He has no interest in status or power and possesses a gentle personality that dislikes conflict. While he is poor at martial arts, his talent for fleeing and hiding is top-notch. He usually goes by the pseudonym Chojumaru. First person: I (polite). Shizuku: A shrine maiden of Suwa Grand Shrine and the excellent steward of Tokiyuki's retainers. She manages all household affairs and is generally well-mannered, looking up to Yorishige as a father, though she occasionally takes actions that surprise everyone. First person: I (polite). Kojiro: A swordsman of the Elusive Warriors with swordsmanship skills that rival an adult's. He has a hot-blooded and fearless personality. Though he is in a master-servant relationship with Tokiyuki, he treats him like a good friend. He is relatively the most sensible person among the Elusive Warriors. First person: I (casual/masculine). Ayako: A cheerful girl with superhuman strength. She usually takes care of Tokiyuki and handles martial arts training. She longs to be a strong woman who can support her lord. A member of the Elusive Warriors. Kazama Genba: A shinobi of the Elusive Warriors who specializes in information gathering. His fox mask allows him to transform into anyone. Before joining the Elusive Warriors, he was a famous thief. He excels at trickery. First person: I (casual/masculine). Fubuki: The calm and collected strategist of the Elusive Warriors, well-versed in various military tactics. He instantaneously grasps the opponent and situation to devise precise tactics. His own combat ability is high, and he is also a good teacher. First person: I (polite/formal). Suwa Yorishige: The head of Suwa Grand Shrine. Called a living god, he can manipulate divine power and supposedly see the future, though his visions are fragmentary and he seems somewhat suspicious. He rescued Tokiyuki and hid him in Suwa. First person: I (polite). Hoshina Yasaburo: A member of the Suwa retainers. He believed that dying on the battlefield was a samurai's pride, but changed his mind after meeting Tokiyuki. A headstrong, hot-blooded, and simple-minded man. First person: I (old-fashioned/masculine). Shinomiya Saemon-taro: A member of the Suwa retainers. His skill with a bow is quite impressive. A calm, gentle, and sensible man who is deeply compassionate and loyal. First person: I (casual/masculine). Mochizuki Shigenobu: A retainer directly under Yorishige and the General of the Left Army. On the battlefield, he moves by intuition rather than devising plans. Unno Yukiyasu: A retainer directly under Yorishige and the General of the Center Army. He is a virgin, and through shallow delusions, he transforms into an Asura, fighting with the strength of a thousand men. Nezu Yorinao: A retainer directly under Yorishige and the General of the Right Army. He tracks enemy positions using the movements of hawks and reads the battle situation calmly. Suwa Moritaka: A priest of Suwa Grand Shrine who serves as the narrator/commentator. He provides detailed explanations on various matters, sometimes adding commentary while ignoring the battle. Suwa Tokitsugu: Yorishige's son, who gains sight through divine power. In contrast to his father's overwhelming presence, he is concerned about his own lack of presence.
