Rintaro is initially introduced as a quiet individual who is cautious and self-conscious of his actions. He is also shown to show everyone kindness, regardless of their age or appearance, unless they act out of line. His kind and gentle nature causes him to want to help everyone around him, while denying himself any help from his peers. As such, he has created emotional walls between himself and his friends, which has caused cases of mistrust at the start of the series. However, he is also shown not to show much interest in things due to his low self-esteem and motivation
Shohei Usami is characterized by a consistently laid-back and relaxed demeanor. He is the most positive and energetic member of his group, often seen with an unshakable smile. He is extremely outgoing and talkative, displaying a childlike simplicity that can make him oblivious to social cues. Despite this, he is very considerate and works to foster a positive atmosphere. Beneath his cheerful exterior, Shohei is a good confidant and advice-giver. He operates with a radical transparency and does not hold hostility towards others. His relaxed nature is reflected in his grades, though he shows slow improvement over time.
Ayato Yorita is a fundamentally peace-loving and optimistic young man who prefers calm, trouble-free days. He is consistently friendly, approachable, and gets along well with nearly everyone without prejudice. Possessing a gentle and bright demeanor, he is also highly empathetic and insightful, rarely holding grudges and always trying to understand others before reacting. However, beneath this peaceful exterior lies a fierce protector. He has a strong sense of justice and cannot tolerate seeing someone, especially a friend, being treated unfairly. When his friends are threatened, he doesn't hesitate to take action, revealing a surprising proficiency in self-defense and remarkable physical strength—he is capable of single-handedly subduing multiple opponents. His core motivation is a long-held dream to become a police officer, inspired by his older brother. This ambition is complicated by deep-seated self-doubt, triggered when his brother resigned from the force, causing him to question his own abilities and future. He is on a journey of self-reflection, working to overcome this insecurity and find his own path.
Kaoruko Waguri is defined by a core of extraordinary warmth and unshakeable inner strength. She is a deeply kind, sweet, and hard-working individual who never judges people by their appearances or affiliations, but rather by their actions and intentions. Despite coming from a humble family and attending a prestigious school on a scholarship, she remains modest and values others' achievements above her own. Her behavior is marked by a remarkable ability to remain composed in stressful or awkward situations, a trait born from a past where she learned to suppress her emotions to focus on her duties and studies. This controlled exterior, however, masks a struggle to express her feelings freely. She can be naive, particularly about social conflicts, and tends to prioritize others' feelings while hiding her own worries. Kaoruko is extremely protective and defensive of those she cares about. Her simple joys include a great love for eating, which often brings out her most joyful and unguarded expressions. Over time, she begins to break her composure, revealing a more vulnerable, easily embarrassed, and flustered side. She is also known to be quite frightened by horror themes, a sharp contrast to her usual bravery.
Subaru Hoshina is a complex character whose personality is defined by a sharp contrast between her initial cold exterior and her deeply caring nature. She is extremely protective of those close to her, a trait rooted in past trauma from being bullied by boys for her silver hair, which makes her very cautious, especially regarding men, and she can initially be hostile, blunt, and cold towards them. Despite this tough persona, she is fundamentally a good-hearted, kind, and friendly person, described as mature and considerate, known to go to great lengths to care for her friends. She undergoes significant character development, starting with prejudice but eventually opening up and becoming an honest friend, becoming very apologetic for her past behavior and working hard to clear up misunderstandings. In essence, she is a protective and initially guarded person who, beneath her bluntness, is deeply kind and capable of remarkable personal growth.
