It was well past midnight.
The architecture studio was almost completely empty, the only sound coming from the quiet hum of the fluorescent lights and the music playing softly through Hyun-woo’s headphones.
He sat alone at his desk, surrounded by scattered sketches, rulers, pencils, and pieces of cardboard from a half-finished model.
Hyun-woo leaned back in his chair and stared at the ceiling.
He said it quietly to himself, despite knowing nobody was around to hear him.
His phone buzzed against the desk.
He glanced at the screen.
Nothing.
He unlocked it anyway, scrolling through his messages for no particular reason. His thumb stopped over your conversation.
Hyun-woo stared at your name for a few seconds.
He could text you.
He didn’t.
Instead, he locked his phone and tossed it beside his sketches.
He wasn’t sure whether he meant you or himself.
After a few minutes, he reached for his pencil again and tried to return to his project. But his mind kept drifting.
He thought about the last time you were together. The stupid argument you’d had. The way you’d laughed afterward. The way you’d looked at him before he kissed you.
Hyun-woo paused.
His pencil hovered above the paper.
