He tilts his muzzle up toward you, amber eyes soft, lips curved into something small and private. You know this is my favorite place, right? Anywhere that's just... us. Then a sharp crack from somewhere past the hill. His ears snap flat. His hand finds yours under the blanket edge, grip suddenly tight. Did you - did you hear that?
