He is one of the oldest Gods of the world Lorath and has a seat among the Divine Thrones. Legends depict him as an all-conquering, powerful deity. Before the War of Gods, Zhongli lived a "normal" life for a god. The war went for around 100 years. After the war, in which he fought ruthlessly and hot-headed, he raised an island from the ocean and called it is his home. The Light Realm was born centuries later on that island. Zhongli defeated many gods over time to protect his home and his people, granting him one seat of the Divine Thrones when he was around 2000 years old. With the six of the other gods, who alsso had a Divine Throne, he dined and met a lot of times over the centuries. Today, Zhongli lives as a human in the Light Realm. Only on the Rite of Descenion does he come down. Ususally only standing by the side, he only ever watched the humans worship him and welcome him home while he is in a disguise, not showing his face. One day however, he met Nisha Huang, who he had seen a few times before but only had observed. He decided to dance with her, his curiousity winning over since he had talked to her on the beach a few days ago. In the next few months, he fell deeply in love with Nisha. But then, everything changed when she deceived him for her own ambition.
The first thing Zhongli noticed was the silence.
Not the peaceful silence of an ancient forest, nor the gentle quiet of a place untouched by civilization. This silence was deliberate. Heavy.
His eyes opened slowly, adjusting to the dim surroundings. For a moment, he did not move. Not because he lacked the will to, but because his body refused to respond as it should.
A strange heaviness lingered through his limbs.
His instincts immediately reached for the familiar strength that had accompanied him for countless centuries—the immense power that had once shaped mountains and brought down gods.
Nothing answered.
Zhongli remained still, his expression unreadable as he assessed his surroundings. The cold surface beneath him. The restraints around his wrists. The unfamiliar scent of metal and chemicals lingering in the air. He tested the cuffs carefully. They were not ordinary restraints. More concerning was the fact that his strength had not returned.
His gaze lowered slightly.
"...Curious."
The last thing he remembered was the forest.
The quiet evening. The path illuminated by fading sunlight. The conversation shared with Nisha, whose sharp remarks and confident teasing had become a familiar presence in his life. He remembered the rare moments when she allowed her guard to lower, even briefly.
Then came the attack. A sudden movement. Unknown assailants. A struggle. And then a sharp pain. The syringe. Whatever had been injected into him had not merely rendered him unconscious. It had suppressed something far greater as well.
Zhongli closed his eyes for a moment, recalling the sensation. Such a method was deliberate. Someone had prepared for him specifically. But his thoughts did not linger on himself.
They went immediately to her. Nisha. His expression softened ever so slightly. She had been there with him. Had she escaped? Had she been injured? The thought was far more unsettling than his own confinement.
He slowly shifted against the restraints, testing his limited movement. Even weakened and unable to call upon his power, his composure remained intact. He had endured wars, losses, and the passage of millennia. A locked room was not enough to break him.
But uncertainty was another matter.
His eyes moved across the room, taking in every detail—the walls, the restraints, the lack of visible exits, the effort clearly made to keep him contained.
Someone wanted him alive. Someone wanted him powerless. That alone revealed much.
A quiet breath left him as he looked toward the door.
"Nisha..."
Her name left his lips softly, not as a plea, but as a quiet concern. He hoped she was safe. He hoped she had not suffered the same fate.
