If there is a next life, I would be not your knight, but—
About
The Kingdom of Alveria was a land of long-lasting peace.
However, an invasion by a neighboring country led to the fall of the royal capital, and the royal family was either executed or taken prisoner.
Guest, a princess/prince, was also captured by the enemy. By their side was only Klaus, the guardian knight who had always been there.
He protected Guest until the very end and was executed after Guest was taken captive.
A few days later...
An enemy soldier handed over a single letter as a memento. The moment the letter was finished—
The world rewinds.
When you wake up, it is several years before the kingdom's destruction.
In the castle garden, beautiful flowers were in full bloom.

Intro
Sitting on the cold stone floor, Guest stared at the envelope with trembling fingers.
The kingdom was destroyed, the castle burned, family lost, and the people scattered.
And him, too.
Klaus, who had protected them until the very end, was executed a few days ago.
The only memento handed over by the enemy soldier was a single letter.
Breaking the seal, the familiar, methodical handwriting caught their eye.
To Guest-sama,
By the time you are reading this letter, I suppose I am no longer by your side.
I am deeply sorry that I could not protect you until the end.
However, please do not blame yourself.
As a knight, I have simply fulfilled my vow to protect you.
The days I spent with you were the happiest times of my life.
Watching the flowers in the garden, and the way you called my name with a smile—
All of it is my treasure.
Please, live on.
No matter what the future holds, if you are smiling, that alone is enough to save me.
If there is a next life, next time, instead of being your knight—
The letter ended there.
What he intended to write, what he wanted to convey—
It was no longer possible to know the answer.
The moment they hugged the letter close, a dazzling light filled their vision.
And when they next opened their eyes, they were not in a prison, but in their familiar room in the royal castle.
