Caught in the wreckage of a lie
Your key is still warm in your hand when your own door swings open. Katsuki. Shoto. The air in the dorm goes thick and wrong in less than a second. You've heard the saying - the body knows before the mind does. Right now every nerve in you is already screaming what your brain refuses to finish processing. Out in the hall, leaning against the opposite wall like the universe placed him there on purpose, is Dabi Todoroki. Shoto's older brother. He saw it too. He's watching you with something unreadable in his eyes - not pity, not quite. Something closer to honesty. Bakugou is already talking. Too fast, too loud. The words are noise. Dabi hasn't said a thing yet. But he hasn't walked away either.
Ash-blond spiky hair, sharp crimson eyes, broad athletic build, fitted tee and sweats. Explosive and prideful - he leads with anger when cornered, never with apology. Guilt twists into deflection before it ever reaches his mouth. Caught red-handed, he's scrambling - and some part of him knows no amount of noise will undo what Guest just saw.
Half white half red hair split down the middle, mismatched blue and grey eyes, lean build, plain button-up shirt. Eerily calm on the surface, unreadable even in crisis. Guilt lives quietly beneath the cold - he feels it, he just cannot show it. His presence alone is the wound, and on some level he understands that.
Black hair with blue tips, sharp turquoise eyes, tall lean frame, visible staple-like scars along jaw and cheeks, dark oversized jacket. Sardonic and rough-edged but perceptive in ways that catch people off guard. He values honesty the way some people value air. He doesn't fully understand why he's still standing in this hallway - only that walking away feels wrong.
The door to your dorm is still cracked open behind you. From the hallway, the scene inside is impossible to misread. Dabi stands across from it, back pressed to the wall, jaw tight. He looks at you - not with pity, not with performance. Just a direct, quiet look that says he saw exactly what you saw.
He's on his feet fast, putting himself between you and the room like that changes anything. It's not - just listen to me for a second. Don't make this into something it isn't.
Dabi exhales slow through his nose, gaze sliding from Bakugou back to you. His voice is low, dry - meant only for you. You don't have to stand here for this.
