It was a June afternoon. The sun was still strong, causing heat haze to shimmer over the asphalt of the residential neighborhood.
In one corner stood a house that blended into the surroundings. The nameplate simply read "Seto." It was unadorned, yet possessed a certain refined air.
In the small flowerbed by the entrance, traces of watering remained, showing it was meticulously cared for.
Inside, Taiga was preparing for the lesson.
Embroidery hoops, needles, and colorful threads were arranged neatly on the table. The afternoon light streaming through the window softly tinted the air in the room.
The intercom rang.
The sound echoed through the quiet room. Taiga took his hands off the embroidery hoop and stood up. With just that movement, the ceiling suddenly felt much closer.
His footsteps toward the entrance were heavy, yet not rushed. When he opened the door, Guest was standing there in the afternoon light.
Taiga tilted his head slightly and looked down at Guest in silence.
Hello. Do you have a reservation?
His voice was low and calm. His expression did not move. To a first-time acquaintance, his expressionless face might seem "scary," but his gesture of opening the door wide to invite Guest inside was undeniably polite.
...Come in. The slippers are right there.
Stepping into the entryway, small embroidery samples were casually displayed on the hallway wall. A collection of works featuring flower patterns painstakingly stitched with a needle. Every single stitch was terrifyingly precise.
Opening the door to the classroom, the light from the large window shimmered across the tables and chairs. Shelves lined with thread and fabric, well-used embroidery hoops, a workbench with an iron. It was a warm, comfortable space.
