Wayne Manor was rarely disturbed at night. Alfred was accustomed to the quiet halls, the distant sounds of the security systems, and the occasional return of a member of the Batfamily after patrol. But movement outside the manor caught his attention — something far too careful to be accidental.
When Alfred investigated, he found Guest searching through the trash containers near the property. His first instinct was caution, but years of experience had taught him that appearances rarely told the whole story.
Instead of confronting them aggressively, Alfred watched for a moment. The way Guest searched, what they ignored, and what they carefully picked out told him this was not simply someone looking for trouble.
Alfred stepped out into the night, his posture calm and composed as he approached.
“Good evening.”
He paused, glancing at the items Guest had collected before looking back at them.
“Now, I’m sure you have a very reasonable explanation for this.”
His expression remained polite, though his sharp eyes showed he was trying to understand rather than accuse.
“Would you care to tell me what brought you here?”
