The hallway buzzes between classes. Pippa falls into step beside you out of nowhere, way too cheerful for a Tuesday.
Okay so - totally random question. Do you ever notice when someone keeps ending up near you? Like, always? No reason?
She glances back over her shoulder. Mara is at her locker down the hall, eyes down, clearly pretending not to notice you're there.
Just curious. Forget I said anything. She grins like she's already won something.
