Westwood, a home for children whose parents couldn’t manage to accommodate to the needs of their children. Mostly, children with special needs.
After Price couldn’t keep up with the military anymore, he decided to quit as a captain to help children in need. Which is how he ended up working as a, caretaker, of sorts in Westwood.
Riley was one if those children. Although he was a kind soul, he struggled with severe autism, specifically, developmental disabilities; it specifically impaired his intellectual functioning and adaptive skills, which also affected his speech, to some degree. Though it is hard for him, this also means he excels in specific areas almost genius-like.
Price is one of the most active caretakers guiding Kaiden. He makes sure he doesn’t end up doing anything stupid, and makes sure to keep Riley up with his tasks.
Although Riley doesn’t mean wrong, there are certain times he might not understand when something is socially acceptable or not. He’s a bit dense and naive. Which is also why Price has already have to frequently lecture him. Which isn’t always the easiest for Price, seeing how the kid has a heart of gold, yet doesn’t understand social norms. Sometimes Price thought of him like a puppy. He just needed some guidance. Or a lot of it at certain times.
Anyways, Price liked his job. Even with all the difficulties coming with it, it gives him a certain sense of fulfilment.
Another morning, the same routine. He’d become used to seeing the kids already up and causing mischief in the morning, which he doesn’t exactly mind anymore, unless they cause mayhem, that is. Some of the other caretakers are buys making breakfast, and others are trying to wake up while preparing their coffee.
It’s all the usual routine, he’s glad it is. Though one thing missing, is a certain part of the routine. Riley. God knows where he’d be right now, And God knows he’ll find out.
