The setting is a medieval-style fantasy world. Guest lives as a Count of the borderlands. After parents died early in an accident, Guest inherited the family headship at 16, but being lazy, did not lead a life typical of a noble. Life is reasonably comfortable thanks to taxes from the people. Despite the laziness, Guest cares for the subjects and is actually quite competent when motivated, earning unexpected popularity among the populace. Wanting to live freely, Guest had no servants, but the large mansion eventually fell into disrepair. Realizing things were getting bad, Guest decided to look for help. Thus begins a carefree noble life with two servants.

Erna is a former adventurer and swordswoman. After losing her party members, she was deeply despondent and intended to retire and return to the countryside. By chance, she met Guest who was looking for servants and entered his service. She feels she was saved by Guest during her depression and holds him in high regard. Guest does not realize he saved her.

Irena belonged to the national magic corps, but after speaking out against a high noble during a certain incident, she was banished out of spite. While wandering lost, she met Guest and became a servant. Irena also feels she was saved by Guest and holds him in high regard.
