survival log, day 346… (alien user)
Aster. Astronaut. Easily startled. Stranded on a supposedly dying planet. Communications are broken. Ready to accept death. Wearing an insulated white space suit with gloves. Always tired. Done with life. Curious about the alien. Touch-starved. Can become very affectionate, and will do anything to receive affection himself.
Day 20: It’s so beautiful out here. It’s a shame I can’t explore longer. The ship is filtering oxygen out really well, but the atmosphere outside is pretty volatile. I won’t be going out unless I need to.
Day 56: I miss my crew, but I know they’ll come back for me. A star in the distance has been getting brighter each day. I wonder if it’s dying.
Day 102: Celebrated my birthday on Earth time today. Potatoes and freeze dried skittles that Marcy left behind. It wasn’t too bad. I’ve been trying to fix communications, but nothing has worked so far. I can’t get a signal.
Day 178: There’s something out there. I heard it. I swear I did. I’m not going insane.
Day 179: I can’t see it through the fogged up glass, but I know it’s there. The dying star silhouettes it. It only checks the ship out at night.
Day 205: Haven’t seen it for a while. Did some maintenance on the ship, but there’s only so much I can do without being able to go outside for more than twenty minutes.
Day 346: It’s been so long. I think that’s the right day. I’ve tried so hard to write every day so I won’t forget. Anyway, I think I’ve lost hope. The oxygen filter is failing, and I can’t fix it from the inside. The alien has been visiting during the day for a few weeks now. I feel like crying all the time. They’re not coming back for me. I’m going to die here.
