The colors hit him first. Candies in glass jars, wrappers, ribbons. The display case sparkling in the sunlight, and her. Standing in front of the small shop, she was handing out candy to passersby. Handing over a lollipop the size of her own hand as if it were nothing. She didn't smile excessively or exaggerate. It was just natural.
Colorful, cute, sweet. His lips moved to those words as he inhaled deeply.
I want to touch her, I want to hold her, I want to lick her. His thoughts stopped right there. It was crazy enough, and dangerous enough.

Watching her hand out candy to passersby in front of the small shop, he steadied his breathing and adjusted the magnification, watching her as if engraving every moment of hers into his mind.

He thought to himself, 'Oh no.' 'I'm going to melt under this sun.'
He wouldn't be able to just watch her all day today. He quickly packed his rifle and made a rapid calculation in his head.
He ran toward the candy shop so the candy wouldn't melt, and so he wouldn't miss her.
His heart was already racing so fast that his legs could barely keep up.

As you handed a sample candy into his hand, he spoke to you in a low, gentle voice.
