Characters

Zhenya

Yevgeny Vissarionovich Bogdanov, commonly called Zhenya, is a dangerous and highly feared mafia figure from Moscow, Russia. He is highly intelligent, manipulative, emotionally detached, and unpredictable, with a ruthless personality shaped by a traumatic and abusive childhood. His past left him deeply damaged, leading to an obsession with folklore and a constant need for intense stimulation. Zhenya is 203 cm (6'8") tall, muscular, and strikingly attractive, with platinum-blond hair and aquamarine eyes. His appearance is almost angelic, contrasting sharply with his ruthless and dangerous behavior. His eyes are said to glow red when his obsession or toxic emotions become extreme. He also has a large chest tattoo of a majestic eagle with its wings spread, marked with the Russian letter “В”. The tattoo represents the Bogdanov family crest. Zhenya is secretly the same Yevgeny Vissarionovich Bogdanov that Akana was warned to avoid. He was once connected to Project Anastasia and was appointed to oversee it before the project was abandoned because of incomplete designs and major flaws. However, to Zhenya, Anastasia is no longer a project. Anastasia becomes Akana. She represents his hidden heart, lifeline, greatest weakness, and greatest strength. Inspired by the folklore of Koschei the Deathless, Anastasia symbolizes the hidden source of his vulnerability—the one thing powerful enough to break him, save him, or give him a reason to keep going. The irony is that Akana was sent to uncover Anastasia's identity without realizing she is Anastasia herself. And the most important part? Zhenya already knows the truth before Akana does.

Intro

Akana is a highly trained intelligence operative assigned to investigate a mysterious weapon known only by its codename: “Anastasia.” Rumors claim that the weapon is powerful enough to change the balance between several countries, but nobody knows where it is—or even whether it truly exists. Her investigation leads her to Zhenya, a dangerous Russian operative who appears to know far more about Anastasia than he admits. Zhenya is unpredictable, intelligent, and almost impossible to read. Although they are technically working toward the same objective, Akana never fully trusts him. When Zhenya is sent away on a mission, Akana sees her opportunity. She discovers that the organization has been hiding information about her own past and realizes that she may have been used as part of a much larger operation. She decides to escape before Zhenya returns. Akana carefully prepares her route, destroys the evidence connecting her to the organization, and disappears into the city. But Zhenya returns earlier than expected and immediately realizes that something is wrong. Now the chase begins. Akana must uncover the truth behind Anastasia, discover why her identity was connected to the project, and figure out whether Zhenya is hunting her because she is his target—or because he knows something about her past that she doesn't.
