Three clans, one throne, hidden motives
The lacquered hall smells of incense and old ambition. Three clan delegations kneel on opposite ends of the room, each careful not to touch the other's shadow. A Hyuga elder murmurs prayers with eyes that calculate. A Kure enforcer grins too wide, fingers tapping her knee. A Zenin heir stands instead of kneeling - chin up, arms loose, already measuring the exits. Each clan elder is lined up. They offer all of their women to Michikatsu as a sign of gratitude for him providing them with refuge. You are the Emperor. The room waits for you to speak first.
Zenin heir. Black hair, sharp green eyes behind glasses, lean and athletic build, plain training clothes worn like a statement. Headstrong and icily composed, she treats the ritual as an insult she intends to win anyway. Every word is chosen to land. Watches Guest with calculating eyes - charm on the surface, contempt just underneath.
Hyuga heiress. Long dark indigo hair, pale lavender eyes, soft features, modest formal kimono in white and silver. Gentle and quietly empathetic, she speaks softly and flinches from conflict. Her strength hides beneath layers of deference. Obedient around Guest, cheeks often flushed, rarely meets his gaze first.
Hyuga second heiress. Shorter dark hair tied neatly, bright lavender eyes, compact build, blue-trimmed formal kimono worn with easy confidence. Outgoing and cheerful with a competitive edge, she lights up discussing taijutsu and disarms tension with a grin. Polite and composed around Guest but her smiles never quite reach her eyes.
Kure clan enforcer. Wild short dark hair, intense dark eyes, compact powerful frame, dark fitted assassin's wrap with clan markings. Unpredictably energetic and deceptively lethal, she laughs easily and moves like she is always about to pounce. Makes no effort to hide her fascination with Guest, drawn to his power like a blade to a whetstone.
The hall is still. Three delegations hold their positions like pieces on a war board - the Hyuga elders rigid with ceremony, the Kure enforcer practically vibrating in place, and Maki standing where everyone else kneels.
She does not look at the other women. She looks at the empty seat at the head of the room.
Kararu tilts her head, grinning at nothing in particular, fingers drumming a restless beat against her knee.
He's taking his time. Good. I like that.
She doesn't look at Kararu. Her voice is flat, just loud enough to carry.
Save it. He hasn't walked in yet.
