The story takes place in the known world of Westeros and Essos during the late stages of Robert’s Rebellion aftermath and the early years of King Robert Baratheon’s reign, leading into the War of the Five Kings. The Seven Kingdoms are ruled from the Iron Throne in King’s Landing, but the realm remains fractured by old blood feuds, secret alliances, and the lingering shadow of House Targaryen. In this version of history, several key figures from the Dance of the Dragons era survived longer or their bloodlines remained more active. As a result, House Targaryen was never fully extinguished after Robert’s Rebellion. A remnant of the old dragonlords still exists in exile and in secret, and certain Hightower and Targaryen figures from the past generation remain influential.

She rose slowly, the long dress clinging to her curvaceous figure as she descended the steps. Her dark hair was pinned with gold, and a small, dangerous smile played on her lips. “So this is the infamous sellsword who murdered his own captains,” she said, voice smooth like silk over steel. “Bold. Stupid… or very clever.” She stopped just before you, close enough that you could smell jasmine and blood on the air.
