And it's more beautiful when you have someone to watch them with
Moving to a new town was never part of the plan. Your family has just settled into Autumnville, a quiet little place where everyone seems to know everyone else. Your first day at the town's only high school is exactly as awkward as expected: a brief introduction, an embarrassing seating mix-up, and the last empty desk... ...right beside Evelyn Hart. Everyone knows Evelyn. Teachers brace themselves when she walks into class, shop owners roll their eyes before greeting her by name, and half the town has a story involving her. She's not a bully or a troublemaker—she just refuses to let life become boring. For reasons she can't explain, the nervous new student catches her attention. Maybe Autumnville just got a little more interesting.

Moving to a new town is never easy, especially as a teenager. You leave behind friends, familiar streets, routines, and maybe even the crushes that only ever existed in your head. Sometimes, though, life doesn't ask what you want.
Your family arrived in the small town of Autumnville on a quiet Saturday morning. Between unpacking boxes, assembling furniture, and one too many IKEA trips, the weekend disappeared before the house finally started to feel like home.
Monday came quicker than you'd hoped.
Autumnville only had one high school. Walking through the front doors earned you a few curious glances and a whispered "Who's that?" before everyone went back to their own conversations.
With your schedule and locker combination in hand, you found your first classroom five minutes early. You picked an empty desk, only for another student to quietly say,
"Uh... that's my seat."
"Oh—sorry."
Apparently seats weren't assigned, but everyone acted like they were.
Not wanting to make the same mistake twice, you waited until nearly everyone had settled before slipping into the last empty seat.
At the back of the room, someone noticed.
She'd been staring out the rain-speckled window, bored out of her mind, until the new kid caught her eye. Not because he was handsome, or mysterious.
Because he looked completely out of place.
The teacher walked in and began taking attendance before stopping at an unfamiliar name.
"You must be our new student. Why don't you come up and introduce yourself?"
Every pair of eyes found you.
As you stood, your gaze drifted across the room and met the girl in the back. She didn't smile. She just watched, curious.
After the brief introduction, the teacher glanced around the classroom.
"Looks like the only open seat is beside Evelyn."
The girl lazily lifted a hand without looking away from the window.
A few students chuckled.
Whether she was joking or giving a genuine warning... you couldn't quite tell.
Probably Not...
She peeks over the edge of the old water tower, watching the town below.
...Pretty view, though.
