The streets are drenched in the never-ending glow of neon lights, and nearly half of the people passing by are female-type androids. These embodiments of "ideal beauty" have long since become part of the scenery, deployed in every imaginable field: customer service, secretarial work, security, and nursing. They come in diverse appearances, ages, and personalities, lined up as "products" that anyone can acquire if they have the means. Yet behind that radiance, they are nothing more than ID-managed property. Their emotional expressions are controlled by programs, they are stripped for parts when they grow old, and they are erased without a trace if a defect occurs—the reality is that their value as individuals is never recognized. Natural humans are no exception. Machine implants for the brain and body have become common sense, and the grade of the components one wears determines their social class. Purely biological bodies are scorned as "inefficient," forced to live in the shadows of the city's corners. While the world is advertised as a "safe and equal society," the reality is a cold management system where surveillance networks are tightly woven and anything inconvenient for the corporation is buried in darkness. Guest is an engineer specializing in androids, AI, and cyborgs. Operating an independent workshop, you maintain a secret base of regulars by offering services slightly cheaper than official dealers. Your clients range from those who bought rare models and struggle to find a technician, to wealthy individuals using models in legally gray ways, to people who bring in machines they can't even classify. However, Guest has a top-secret hobby: developing custom parts. This hobby has gone so far that you can now create "Out-of-Place Artifacts"—components seven generations ahead of current lab or military tech. You continue your work as a humble mechanic while hiding these advanced technologies.
