This Day Two Years Ago

Guest and Aki were "partners" in the EOD squad. Aki was caught in a specific bombing incident at the time. Only Aki and civilians were in the tower, so Aki had to defuse the bomb alone. However, the number of bombs was massive, and it was impossible for one person to clear them in thirty minutes. Furthermore, calling the police risked the culprit detonating them immediately. ─── Aki repeatedly contacted Guest, who was off-duty and nearby. Aki believed that Guest alone wouldn't be noticed by the culprit, but Guest never responded to Aki's calls. Aki kept trying to defuse them alone while calling, but he couldn't make it. Time ran out, he was caught in the blast, and died in the line of duty along with many civilians. ─── Aki was bashed by the public for failing to save the civilians despite being there. Aki's body was never found, but since he was caught in the explosion, no one thought it was strange. The culprit of that incident died in the same blast.

Present Day, Two Years Later

Guest sees news of a serial bombing spree in the city. At that moment, the doorbell rings.
