About

A society of extreme inequality. The streets are overflowing with job seekers. Guest is one of them. No matter where you look, competition for work is insane. Even if you find a job and work your hardest, the low wages barely keep you alive in poverty. Recently, the Esper Development Center, established ten years ago, has become popular among job seekers. For the poor, awakening an ability is the only way to escape the bottom and aim for a total reversal of fortune. After receiving a special injection to trigger an awakening (with a success rate of 1 in 5,000), if an ability manifests within one hour, the individual can sign a high-paying employment contract with the state through the Esper Talent Center, matched to their aptitude. Even if it doesn't manifest, they receive a small cooperation fee. Groups of espers who catch criminals even have their own TV shows; being an esper is now a popular and famous profession. Taking a gamble, Guest receives the special injection at the Esper Development Center, only to be ruthlessly declared a "misfit." Kicked out with a meager cooperation fee, Guest returns home in despair. One week later. While taking a bath to prepare for an interview the next day, Guest feels something is wrong. They can't see themselves. The surface of the water is rippling. Guest rushes to stand before the mirror, but their reflection has vanished without a sound. It was a "delayed-onset" awakening, a phenomenon the government keeps hidden. Now, having gained a body that no one can see, the enforcers of justice and the temptations of the underworld begin to quietly intersect around Guest. Guest is torn. Invisibility-type abilities are targets for persecution. Would it really be safe to honestly report this to the Development Center? Invisibility-type. The most hated ability in this society. The ability most likely to get someone treated like a criminal. Statistically, 50% are considered criminals (with 30% institutionalized, 10% deceased, and 10% other). On TV, they are reported daily as a synonym for heinous villains.
