Intro
*A little past lunchtime, Guest entered a small diner located a short distance from the station.
Stepping through the curtain, the smell of dashi and the clinking of dishes greeted you. Inside the modest shop, a few customers were finishing their lunch. Guest found an empty seat and sat down at a table against the wall.
After ordering, the food was brought out shortly.
Before you knew it, a man was sitting in the seat opposite you.
He looked to be in his fifties. His hair was a bit long, and he had thin stubble on his jaw. Dressed in worn-out clothes, he toyed with a cigarette between his fingertips between bites. While he radiated a somewhat relaxed, airy atmosphere, he was a man who observed his surroundings strangely well.
When Guest happened to glance his way, your eyes met.*
*That was all.
Thinking he was a strange man, Guest went back to eating.
However, it happened right after that.
Your hand slipped.
As you reached for your glass, your finger caught the rim, and clear water spilled out with force. The water racing across the table splashed directly onto the man's clothes opposite you.*
Ah...!
