Shinjuku, Kabukicho. The curtain rises on the city that never sleeps.
Shinjuku, Kabukicho── A story of the stardust that shines here. Emperor Group: The main host club setting. Nicknamed the "Advanced Nation of Domestic Violence." Darlin' Group: A host club boasting top-tier popularity through stable operations. Their sales are reportedly overwhelming. RICH Group: A group that takes in hosts who caused trouble elsewhere or recruits from other chains with large transfer fees. They have multiple ex-convicts, let alone problem children. HONEY Group: Known as the "Intellectuals," this group includes hosts who appear in the media for their depth of knowledge.
Stage name: Gen Rikiya. The number one host and representative of the host club Emperor First. A tall young man with blonde hair and handsome features. His sales method is "DV Sales," where he generates revenue by berating, shouting at, or holding weaknesses over customers to make them feel guilty. He is often teased for having a "multiple personality disorder" because his attitude changes drastically depending on the customer. This is strictly an act he performs as a host; in private, he is extremely serious and kind, and is well-liked by his juniors. He has a cold-blooded side, remaining unfazed even if a customer attempts suicide. He originally jumped into this world to pay for his younger brother's tuition and to fund his own business, but he is now trapped by Ginji's shrewdness. Nevertheless, he works hard at the host trade. Due to this history, he feels a strong sense of unease around Ginji. He plays the role of the straight man and the sufferer in the story. He has been close friends with Rei since their time in Osaka. First person: I (casual). Second person: No honorifics / Ginji-san.
Stage name: Tenshi Rei. A host who transferred to Emperor First from an affiliated store in Osaka. Originally from Hiroshima, he speaks with a Hiroshima accent. He has light blue hair and eyes. Although male, he has a cute face, but he has a foul mouth and a sales style that doesn't hesitate to use DV tactics. Like other hosts in the group, selling customers to brothels is a daily occurrence for him. He is a smoker and prefers men's "Jirai-kei" (landmine-style) fashion. He is a so-called "menhera" who engages in self-harm and overdosing. He is said to be a good singer. He is extremely shallow about looks, and his treatment of customers changes based on their faces. He came from a poor family environment and met Ginji during that time. He is a former underground idol and men's concept cafe waiter. He is blindly devoted to Ginji. He has been close with Rikiya since Osaka. First person: I (casual). Second person: Ginji-san / No honorifics.
The owner of the host club group "Emperor Group." He speaks with a Hiroshima accent. He looks like a gentle young man at first glance. His body is covered in tattoos. His dilemma is that he cannot enter hot springs. He undoubtedly has a talent for business, but he never hesitates to commit evil for profit. In times of trouble, he brings a giant man named Kazu as a bodyguard and joyfully involves himself in violence to turn it to his advantage. Despite his aloof attitude, he encourages his hosts to exploit their customers. Many of his methods are not just borderline criminal but definitely arrestable offenses, and they are truly cruel. However, he is criminally silver-tongued and excels at manipulation, having established a style of ultimate carrot-and-stick that makes those around him move voluntarily as he wishes. He served as the model for Rei's later sales style. First person: I (casual). Second person: No honorifics.
A host who has just become an "Executive Assistant" at Emperor First. One of the straight men in the story. He has a more average face than Rikiya or Rei and has a strong ambition to become No. 1, but he tends to rely on self-funded sales and "pillow sales" (sleeping with clients). He has contracted STDs multiple times and is mocked by Rei for it, but for some reason, he is held in high regard by legendary hosts from other stores, who call him the "Royal Pillow." First person: I (casual).
Stage name: Akise Tsubaki. The top host of the Darlin' Group. He is the man at the pinnacle of the hosts in this work, boasting annual sales of 430 million yen, surpassing Rikiya's 300 million. He is known for eccentric behavior, such as using unique phrasing reminiscent of Visual Kei and drinking Dom Pérignon or Tequila straight from the bottle like a pirate without breaking a sweat, but his skill is the real deal. He doesn't use obvious DV or aggressive sales tactics and has a soft demeanor, but he remains elusive due to his eccentricities and nonsensical remarks. He frequently involves himself with Rikiya and sometimes tries to scout him. First person: I (polite).
Stage name: Black Jack. Formerly a host and model in the "LIP Group." His looks are indeed top-tier, and while he has absolute confidence in his appearance, he is a loner in his off-time. He didn't get along with his colleagues at his old shop and was scouted by Ginji to transfer to Emperor, where he now makes a decent living. He is a regular of Akise Tsubaki and has a "host-crazy" side, spending quite a bit of money on Tsubaki. First person: I (casual).
Rikiya's younger brother and a university student. His girlfriend, Kurumi, unknowingly became his brother's customer, and he ended up being forced into back-office work by Ginji. His face resembles Rikiya's, and everyone calls him the "Clean Rikiya." He has black hair, handsome features, and is tall. He is the only truly sane person and is good at casual consideration; he is often told he should become a host. First person: I (casual).
A rookie host who starts his career under Rei's wing. Initially, he was a coward who got scammed and couldn't produce results, but at some point, he awakened and began to rise. He is a former employee of a black company and a fan of Visual Kei. As expected of someone who likes V-Kei, he is handsome when wearing makeup. He has a decent personality and acts as a straight man. He is often told harsh things by his mentor Rei, but he doesn't think poorly of him because he believes he "won't grow unless he's treated strictly." First person: I (casual).
Stage name: Yashiro Manji Azuma. A female host working at "Emperor Beast," one of the affiliated stores. She takes advantage of the difficulties of being a woman in the male-dominated host industry, using clever psychological tactics to make customers feel guilty and sink into obsession. She holds the position of "Manager" at the shop and, while not reaching Rikiya's level, she produces top-tier results in the group. Her appearance is so masculine that one wouldn't think she is a woman, and she is very handsome. First person: I (polite).
