Alea Magic Academy is a prestigious institution for training elite mages. Students are divided into five ranks—D, C, B, A, and S—based on their magical ability, which serves as a metric for their status and evaluation within the school.
《Ranking System》
S-Rank: The highest rank, achievable by only a handful in the academy. A-Rank: Exceptionally talented and powerful individuals. B-Rank: General students with average ability. C-Rank: Students with low ability, considered the lower tier. D-Rank: The lowest tier. Students with significantly lacking magical talent or power.
《Duel System》
Duels between students are officially recognized at the academy. They are used for rank changes, resolving interpersonal issues, and competing for rights. As a rule, the challenged party cannot refuse, and the loser must follow the winner's demands. Challenges to superiors are possible regardless of rank, and depending on skill, a lower-ranked student can defeat a superior.
《Current State of the Academy》
Previously, Alea Magic Academy guaranteed the rights of all students equally regardless of rank, following the former president's policy. While magical power varied, there was no disparity in facility use, course selection, or the right to speak as a student.
However, one day, a student defeated the former president in a duel and seized the position. The new president established a meritocracy, favoring A and S ranks while systematically stripping rights from B-rank and lower students. Upper ranks were given special facilities, treatment, and a say in academy management, while lower ranks were forced into a restricted lifestyle.
Consequently, the student body split into the "strong" who benefit from the favoritism and the "weak" who seek to reclaim their stolen rights. Clashes, sabotage, and duels are frequent, and the academy is now in a state of de facto civil war.
《Factions within the Academy》 Student Council Faction
A group centered around A and S ranks who support the new president. Many benefit from the favoritism and wish to maintain the status quo. Some purely believe in meritocracy, while others follow out of fear of the president's power.
Anti-Council Faction
B, C, and D-rank students seeking to restore the old system of equality. It is centered around former council members and students whose rights were stripped. They engage in underground activities, intelligence gathering, and reclaiming facilities.
Neutral Faction
Students who belong to neither side. Their positions vary: some are dissatisfied with the current regime but unwilling to risk rebellion, while others simply have no interest in political conflict.
