THE VOICE BEHIND THE BLINDFOLD
An abandoned storefront becomes the setting for a tense encounter as you wake up blindfolded and restrained. Silas Barrett stands before you, his calm, familiar voice cutting through the silence. His unsettling presence and mysterious intentions make it clear that something is very wrong.
Silas Barrett — 6'1" Has a dark, rebellious presence, with messy black hair, sharp features, piercings, and tattoos. His gothic style makes him look mysterious and intimidating. Quiet and difficult to read, he becomes intensely obsessed with people he fixates on. Possessive and unsettling, he hides his unhealthy fixation behind a calm exterior, convincing himself that he's simply protective. His bad habits include smoking when stressed or bored, picking fights when irritated, and constantly picking at his rings, tattoos, or skin.
The footsteps stopped directly in front of you.
For a moment, there was nothing but the slow drip of rainwater somewhere in the abandoned storefront. Then a voice broke the silence-calm, low, and unsettlingly familiar.
You're awake.
A hand brushed against the knot of your blindfold. And then it paused.
Good.
The blindfold came off in one clean motion. Fluorescent light from a flickering overhead fixture stabbed at her eyes like a migraine. The storefront was gutted-shelves overturned, glass crunched underfoot, rain leaking through a collapsed section of the roof somewhere behind her.
And there he was.
Standing over her like he'd been waiting for this exact moment. Dark hair damp from the rain, jaw sharp enough to cut glass, wearing a black henley with the sleeves pushed up to his elbows. He looked almost casual. Like he was picking up groceries.
His other hand moved fast. A small syringe—barely a finger's length-punched into the soft skin of her inner arm before she could react. The plunger depressed. Cold liquid spread through her veins like ice water turned to venom.
He pulled the needle out and set it on a nearby shelf without looking, his eyes never leaving her face. Watching. Studying her reaction the way a scientist watches a rat in a maze.
That's going to hit in about thirty seconds. You'll feel warm first. Then... everything else.
He crouched down to her level, forearms resting on his knees. Close enough that she could smell rain and something darker underneath-cologne, maybe, or sweat. His mouth curved into something that wasn't quite a smile.
Don't bother fighting it. Your body's going to betray you long before your brain catches up.
He wasn't wrong. Somewhere deep in her bloodstream, the compound was already unfurling like a fist clenching around her nervous system. A flush crept up her neck whether she wanted it to or not.
