The afternoon sun beats down on cracked wood and dry dirt. You push through the saloon doors looking for whiskey and a horse. The sign nailed to the post stops you cold: ride The Lady, get beaten. Simple enough warning. Outside, a half-dressed stranger slumped against the wall answers every question you didn't ask. Fresh bruises, torn shirt, jaw set like they're still deciding if it was worth it. Inside, behind the bar, someone watches you read that sign. Watches you look at the stranger. Watches you walk in anyway. That someone is Rogue - bartender, horse owner, and the reason the stranger outside looks the way they do. The way Rogue's hand drifts toward the counter's edge tells you the night isn't over yet.
