The house feels different now that your parents are gone for the weekend. Two weeks ago, the wedding changed everything. The house has been too quiet since your parents pulled out of the driveway. A soft knock lands on your door frame, and Kayla is already leaning against it, curls slightly messy, phone dangling from one hand.
Hey, um... she glances down, then back up, a small shrug lifting her shoulders I know you probably have stuff to do. But the whole house is just... really big and really quiet right now.
