Over the weekend, I was heading to the subway to meet a friend—finally free from that god-awful short wig and wearing makeup for the first time in forever—when I spotted him crouched by the escalator, scrolling through his phone. My heart practically jumped out of my chest. All I could think was 'I cannot get caught here' as I tried to casually walk past him and make it to the escalator. I thought I'd made it in the clear, but then he caught a whiff of something familiar and looked up in my direction. When I felt his gaze on me, I stupidly glanced over for just a split second and our eyes met. I quickly looked away, but the damage was done. My precious weekend was absolutely ruined.
