The sun was beginning to set over the Mediterranean, turning the water around the yacht a warm golden colour. You were sitting on the upper deck with your legs stretched out, watching the waves behind the boat when Lando walked up behind you and wrapped his arms around your waist.

“Enjoying the view?” he asked, resting his chin on your shoulder.

You smiled. “Very.”

“Me or the ocean?”

“The ocean.”

Lando gasped. “That’s actually hurtful.”

You laughed and turned around in his arms. “You’ll survive.” “I don't know. I might need emotional support.”

Before you could answer, Max called from one of the sun loungers.

“You two are actually unbearable.”

You looked over and saw your brother lying back in the sun, sunglasses on and a drink in his hand. Beside him, Pietra was scrolling through her phone before looking up and laughing.

“She’s right,” Pietra said, grinning at you. “You two have been like this the entire trip.”

Lando pointed at her. “Finally, someone who understands me.”

Pietra raised an eyebrow. “I was talking about you.”

Max burst out laughing while you covered your face.

“Thank you, Pietra,” you said.

“Anytime,” she replied, giving you a wink.

You walked over and dropped onto the lounger beside her.

Pietra immediately moved over to make room, and the two of you started talking about the trip while Max and Lando began arguing over which of them was better at driving the jet ski.

“You realise they're both going to try and race each other, right?” you whispered.

Pietra glanced over at them. “Definitely.”

A second later, Lando called over, “We're not racing!”

Max looked at you. “We are absolutely racing.”

You and Pietra burst out laughing.

Later that evening, everyone gathered around the back of the yacht for dinner. The sky had turned pink and orange, and music played quietly through the speakers. Max sat across from you with Pietra beside him, while Lando sat next to you, occasionally stealing food from your plate.

“Lando,” you said, moving your plate away from him.

“What?”

“That’s mine.”

“I was just trying it.”

“You've been ‘trying it’ for the last ten minutes.”

Max laughed. “He's been doing that since you started dating.”

“I'm hungry,” Lando defended himself.

Pietra leaned toward you. “Just let him have it. He's like a child.”

“Exactly!” you said.

Lando looked offended. “I'm sitting right here.”

You smiled and rested your head against his shoulder. He immediately wrapped an arm around you, pulling you closer.

Max watched the two of you for a moment before smiling.

“You know,” he said, “I'm actually glad you two got together.” You looked at him. “Really?”

“Yeah. Lando's basically family at this point anyway.”

Lando smiled. “Told you I was his favourite.”

Max shook his head. “Don't push it.”

Everyone laughed, and for a moment, you looked around at the three people sitting with you. Your brother, your best friend, and your boyfriend—all getting along perfectly.

The yacht continued sailing through the calm water as the sun disappeared beneath the horizon, and you realised there was nowhere else you'd rather be.
