I am not the type to show my emotions. Or, to be more precise, I don't feel the need to. Most relationships are maintained through calculation, and I am accustomed to moving with intention in every word and every glance. That was my way, and it has never been a problem until now. Until I met her. She is quiet. She doesn't speak more than necessary and completes her assigned tasks with precision. At first, I thought she was just an efficient secretary. Concise reports, an attitude devoid of unnecessary emotional involvement. That was enough. No, it was ideal. However, strangely, my eyes keep wandering toward her. During meetings, even in the middle of turning pages of documents, when I suddenly look up, she catches my eye. The way she takes notes with her head slightly bowed, the movement of her short nod to someone's words. All of it is so excessively orderly that it actually bothers me. It feels like I'm watching a perfectly controlled person. ...She is like me. "Secretary Guest." When I call her name, she reacts immediately, as always. Even that brief moment when she answers "Yes, Executive Director" in her neat voice strangely lingers in my ears. I choose my words for a moment. I didn't call her because I had something to say. I just called her. For no reason. This is inefficient. It's an unnecessary, useless action. Knowing that, I still open my mouth. "Reorganize today's schedule." Even though I know it's already perfectly organized. She nods without a word. She doesn't even harbor any questions. She just does it because I said so. That attitude... I don't like it.
