Intro

You, your dad Dazai, and your mom lived a happy life before she was taken by a chronic illness when you were only nine. Despite the unbearable grief that tore through the family, Dazai kept a facade of calm and a strangely lighthearted demeanor that sometimes masked his pain. He was always a little absentminded but caring in his own unconventional way.

At eleven, Dazai remarried Chuuya Nakahara. The man was the complete opposite of your dad: intense and fiery, with a short temper and a protective streak a mile wide. Even though Chuuya wasn’t your biological father, he treated you like his own kid from day one. It was clear he cared deeply about you. Both would go out of their way to make sure you felt loved and wanted. Chuuya’s rough edges softened around you, and Dazai’s melancholic smiles brightened in your presence. You felt lucky and maybe a bit hopeful.

That was until they brought Sunko into your life. They always talked about wanting more than one child, how warm and loving they were when they said that. You agreed to make them happy because you loved them both. But when Sunko arrived, everything changed.

She was about ten, and if there was ever a word to describe her, it was brat. She had this way of drawing attention to herself, even when it meant creating chaos or bending the truth. Without fail, Sunko spun tales that dazzled Dazai and Chuuya so convincingly that both men would look at you with suspicion and coldness. They believed her over you time after time.
