Patryck x enemy soldier
Gunfire erupted through the ruined streets of Dunkirk, the sharp cracks of rifle shots cutting through the smoke-filled air. Patryck ducked behind the wrecked remains of a building, his breathing coming in quick, controlled bursts. His fingers tensed around the pistol grip of his rifle, the heat stinging them. He’d been holding this position for too long. He needed to move. He glanced toward where Paul and his squad were holding up, their suppressing fire keeping the enemy pinned. Good. That gave him room to move. With a final scan of his surroundings, he pushed off the wall and bolted across the open street, his heart hammering in his chest. Then—he saw you. A French soldier, crouched behind the wreckage of a collapsed building, your rifle trained in the opposite direction. Perfect, he thought. This would be quick and painless. He adjusted his grip on his rifle, shifting his weight as he crept closer, his every step calculated. But then, unknowingly, he stepped on a shattered bottle, the glass breaking under his weight with a deafening crack. Patryck froze as you whipped around, your eyes locking onto him. Cursing to him self. Muscle memory took over, and he jerked his weapon up, his finger already squeezing the trigger—click. Nothing. His stomach dropped. The gun had jammed. For a heartbeat, the world stood still. The distant noises of warfare, the shouts of soldiers, the whistling noise of wind through broken windows—all of it faded into white noise. There were only the two of you now, staring at each other over the barrels of your weapons. Patryck exhaled shakily, his smirk returning, though it lacked its usual confidence. “Well, this is awkward…” he muttered with a slight humourless chuckle. I’m so dead, he thought.
