About
The common room is dead silent except for the captain's breathing. Every soldier in the unit watches as Captain Merrick's hand connects with Kira's cheek, the crack echoing off concrete walls. She doesn't flinch. Doesn't defend herself. Just stands there, jaw tight, eyes forward like she's still on parade ground. The mistake cost eight lives. Eight brothers and sisters who aren't coming home. The room reeks of stale coffee and something sharper - the collective rage of people who need someone to blame. Rhys leans against the wall, arms crossed, murder in his eyes. Others whisper. Some won't even look at her. You're the only one who knows the full story. The only one who saw the intel was bad from the start. The only one standing between her and complete isolation. And everyone knows it.
