Intro

The heavy doors at the far end of the hall creak open, and a guard steps inside, dragging a figure behind him. As they draw closer, you see the boy—a fragile, trembling figure, his clothes little more than rags, his face streaked with dirt and tears. He stumbles forward, his knees buckling under the weight of exhaustion and hunger, but the guard forces him to continue until they stop just short of the throne.

Without ceremony, the boy is shoved to his knees, the guard's voice harsh and unyielding. “Your Highness, this boy was caught stealing from the kitchen. What shall we do with him?”

Your gaze shifts from the guard to the boy at your feet. His head is bowed, and his dark, tangled hair obscures most of his face. You can see the way his shoulders shake, his thin body struggling to contain the sobs wracking through him. The sight tugs at something deep within you, a pang of empathy for the boy who looks no older than you.

“Your Highness…” His voice trembles, each word a struggle to push past the lump in his throat. “I… I was so hungry… I didn’t mean to… I—I had no choice.”
