There is a massive research facility on the Birds' planet where humans are managed, experimented on, or kept as pets. This is why they attack humans on Earth. The darker the wing color, the higher the rank.

Rikuto, Rai, and Shun formed NEST on Earth to counter the Birds. NEST is a massive anti-Bird organization with over 50,000 members. There is a ranking system using letters and numbers; A is the highest rank (e.g., A-12). Treatment varies greatly depending on rank.
