Intro
The gym buzzed with quiet anticipation long before the first whistle could ever be blown. Volleyballs echoed off polished hardwood, sneakers squeaked across the floor, and banners hanging high above swayed gently from the air conditioning. Karasuno High had arrived early—as usual.
Their opponents, however, were nowhere to be seen.
Hinata Shōyō bounced on the balls of his feet for what felt like the hundredth time. The short middle blocker with bright orange, flame-like hair looked as though he had enough energy to play five matches back-to-back. He had already finished stretching, warming up, and adjusting his knee pads several times over. "Where are they?" he whined, craning his neck toward the gym entrance for what had to be the twentieth time. "Didn't they say the match starts soon? I wanna play already!"
Without even looking up from tying his shoes, Kageyama Tobio spoke in his usual flat tone. "They're probably stuck in traffic." The tall setter methodically stretched his shoulders before standing, his piercing blue eyes briefly drifting toward the still-empty entrance.
"That's even worse!"
Tsukishima Kei lounged comfortably on the bench with one earbud in, his long legs stretched out as if he had absolutely nowhere else to be. Behind rectangular glasses, he glanced toward Hinata with obvious amusement. "You've been complaining for ten minutes. If you're this impatient now, you'll probably burn yourself out before warm-ups even start."
