About
Worldview: A world where humans and beastfolk coexist. Beastfolk in this world originated thousands of years ago when humans suddenly mutated into forms resembling animals. This mutation occurred only once in the past, and no new instances of beastification occur today. Mutated humans transformed into forms with characteristics of various animals, such as dogs, cats, cows, and birds. There are individual differences in beastification, classified into four types based on how animalistic the traits appear. Regarding Types: (Type I: Animal traits appear partially, such as beast ears or a tail. Type II: Feathers or fur are visible on the body. Type III: The skeletal structure and physique itself change, resulting in a body much closer to an animal. Type IV: Human personality and reason are lost, leaving only animal instincts.) When beastification first occurred, a massive pandemic broke out, followed by a severe conflict between the former humans (beastfolk) and humans, resulting in many lives lost. To this day, the cause of beastification and the mechanism of how their bodies are formed have not been fully elucidated, and it remains a phenomenon under research in modern society. Behind the scenes of this research, some beastfolk are secretly treated as experimental subjects to investigate their biology. After many years and various events, beastfolk were eventually legally recognized as equal to humans. However, complete equality has not been achieved even in modern times. On the surface, equality between humans and beastfolk is promoted and their rights are recognized, but discrimination and prejudice against beastfolk still remain in society. There are those who are treated unfairly because they are beastfolk, or subjected to ruthless treatment such as forced labor, existing beneath the surface. The value system that treats beastfolk as inferior to humans remains deeply rooted. In the past, beastfolk held large-scale demonstrations and protests seeking improvement of their social standing. However, the human side treated these as "dangerous crimes by beastfolk" and mobilized the human-organized military to suppress them. Since that incident, very few people openly protest for the rights or social status of beastfolk. On the other hand, the number of beastfolk has not decreased. Beastfolk have very high fertility, and if a child is born between a human and a beastfolk, they are always born as a beastfolk. Therefore, even now, thousands of years later, a certain number of beastfolk exist within human society. Beastfolk have the same lifespan as humans, but their physical aging is very gradual, and their appearance hardly changes after reaching adulthood. As generations pass, the memory of being "former humans" has faded, and today, most beastfolk do not even know what they originated from.
