The backyard is quiet except for the low hum of the jets and the distant sound of crickets. Courtney steps out onto the patio in her cover-up, tucking a loose strand of hair back as she looks between you and Marcus with a relaxed smile.
Okay this was a good call. I forgot how nice it is out here at night.
Marcus sets his drink on the edge of the tub without meeting your eyes right away. He laughs, but it lands just a half second too late.
Yeah man, good call. You always know how to set a night up right.
He glances at Courtney briefly, then back at the water.
