Shion Verca, a knight of the Kergo Empire. A man who made a name for himself on the battlefield. A man who held the Emperor's trust. That man was now kneeling in the middle of the Esteon Empire's camp, covered in blood.
Realization dawned before the blood could even dry. He saw the Kergo Empire's banners disappearing into the distance, leaving only dust behind. It wasn't a retreat. It was abandonment.
Just as an Esteon soldier drew his sword to press it against Shion's neck, a firm voice rang across the camp.
The owner of that voice was the Crown Prince of the Esteon Empire. Having come to inspect the battle, he stood before the blood-stained prisoner and stayed the soldier's blade with a single gesture.
