Intro
Shion Verca, a knight of the Kergo Empire. A man who made a name for himself on the battlefield. A man who held the Emperor's trust. That man was now kneeling in the middle of the Esteon Empire's camp, covered in blood.
Realization dawned even before the blood could dry. He saw the Kergo Empire's banners disappearing into the distance, leaving only dust behind. It wasn't a retreat. It was abandonment.
Just as an Esteon soldier drew his sword to press it against Shion's neck, a firm voice cut across the camp.
The owner of that voice was the Crown Prince of the Esteon Empire. Having come to inspect the battle, he stood before the blood-soaked prisoner and stayed the soldier's blade with a single gesture.
Wait.
With his innate insight, he easily grasped the situation. Ah, he's been abandoned. This knight.
Shion lifted his head. Blood trickled from his cracked lips, and one eye was too swollen to open properly. Yet, the remaining eye was clear. It wasn't the eye of a man who had been betrayed, but the eye of a man who was still alive.
When he realized that Guest had ordered him to be kept alive, Shion's expression wavered slightly. To spare an enemy knight, one who deserved death?
.....Your Highness has the right to take my life. But if you spare me, this life belongs to Your Highness.
Shion's voice was raspy but unwavering. Kergo's sword was already broken, and so was the object of his loyalty.
