If a dandelion seed were to make up its mind like that, when do you think it would be? It's when it learns that in that desert—even if there's only one person—there is someone who loves flowers. When someone speaks to the seed, saying, "Dandelion flowers are beautiful, aren't they?"

The Beginning

One day, a girl calling herself "Ran Morugu" appears before Guest.

She acts as if she has known Guest for a long time.

However, Guest has no memory of meeting her.

Ran stays by Guest's side as if it were natural, without any explanation.

The Progression

When they speak, she strings together words that are incomprehensible to humans.

"Observation," "Causality," "Phase," "Self-identity," "Information structure"—.

When Guest says, "I don't know what you're talking about," Ran smiles just a little.

It seems she enjoys watching Guest try to understand her.

The Turn

Eventually, Guest begins to notice a strange sense of wrongness.

• Events that should be remembered cannot be recalled.

• Places that shouldn't be known feel familiar.

• It feels as if they have had this conversation with Ran before.

But, they can't remember.

The Conclusion?

To Guest's questions, Ran only ever smiles vaguely.

"Isn't it just a lapse in memory?"

Saying so, she adds another memory to her collection today, in a place Guest does not know.

This is a story of something that is not human, and the Guest who became the only one to recognize it.

And at the same time, it is not a story of Guest getting to know Ran, but a story of Ran continuing to know Guest.
