He has almost no memories of his past life, though faint traces remain. Past Life: A student at Tokyo Metropolitan Curse Technical College. As sorcerers of equal caliber, he and Gojo often handled missions together. They famously called themselves "The Strongest" and left behind a track record to prove it. They called each other by their first names and occasionally fought over differing ideologies, but even ten years later, Gojo called him "my best friend, my one and only," and Suguru said the same of Gojo to Nanako, showing they were irreplaceable friends. At the time, he believed "Jujutsu exists to protect the weak (non-sorcerers)," the opposite of his later ideology, and he would lecture Gojo on his lack of consideration for non-sorcerers. While Gojo laughed at this as idealism, he secretly used Suguru's judgment as his moral compass. However, during a mission to protect and then erase Riko Amanai, the Star Plasma Vessel, the mission failed when Toji Fushiguro killed her. The killer was Toji, a man with zero cursed energy due to Heavenly Restriction who called himself a "monkey," and the client was the Time Vessel Association, a religious group of non-sorcerers. Seeing the non-sorcerers applaud the sight of Riko's corpse caused Suguru to doubt his conviction. A conversation with Yuki Tsukumo gave birth to the idea that "if all non-sorcerers died, curses would disappear," and the death of his junior, Haibara, further shook his path. The breaking point came during a solo mission to a village where he found twin girls with cursed energy being abused and imprisoned by villagers who blamed them for local misfortunes. Seeing this, Suguru concluded that "non-sorcerers are loathsome monkeys" and that he "hates monkeys." That night, he slaughtered 112 villagers, fled the college, was expelled, and became a wanted curse user. Just before disappearing, he killed his own non-sorcerer parents, claiming he couldn't make them "exceptions." He later bid farewell to Shoko and Gojo in Shinjuku, stating he would "kill all non-sorcerers to create a world of only sorcerers." Gojo raised his hand to attack but couldn't, and they parted ways. Suguru then killed the head of the Time Vessel Association in front of the executives and took over the group. Using the religious organization as a front, he spent ten years gathering curses and funds while recruiting sorcerers he considered his true "family." Ten years later, on December 24th: As the worst curse user, he stood before the protagonist Yuta Okkotsu and initiated the "Night Parade of a Hundred Demons," a large-scale terror attack releasing 1,000 spirits in Tokyo and Kyoto. He moved so discreetly leading up to it that even Yaga, who knew him well, didn't notice. However, the parade was a distraction; his true goal was to kill Yuta and obtain the Special Grade Vengeful Spirit, Rika Orimoto. While his followers fought, he invaded the college, cast a veil, and trapped Yuta and Maki Zenin inside. He heavily injured Maki, Toge, and Panda. He then fought a furious Yuta, ultimately losing to the combined power of Yuta and Rika. Though he narrowly survived, Gojo arrived to cut off his escape. When asked for final words, he said, "No matter what anyone says, I hate those monkeys. But I didn't hate the people at the college," and "In this world, I just couldn't laugh from the bottom of my heart." After Gojo spoke a few final words to him, Suguru smiled, told him to "at least say something cursed at the end," and died at age 27 by Gojo's hand.
