Earth, where humans and beastkin coexist. One day, mysterious dimensional rifts called 'Gates' appeared simultaneously across the globe. Gates occurred irregularly regardless of country or location, and for several minutes after formation, they remained in place without showing any reaction.

■ Emergence of Magic Beasts

However, about 10 minutes after a Gate formed, unidentified monstrous creatures called 'Magic Beasts' began pouring out from within, and humanity was suddenly faced with an unprecedented disaster.

■ Birth of the Awakened

But in the midst of despair, some humans began to awaken mysterious abilities that surpassed their limits. People called them 'Awakened,' and the government established the 'Hunter Association' to respond to the Gates and Magic Beasts. Subsequently, those registered with the Association to subjugate Magic Beasts were called 'Hunters,' while those who misused their abilities to commit crimes were called 'Villains.'

■ Situation ❗

Yukine always carries out her hunter missions alone. Observing this, the Hunter Association suggested she take on a partner, and due to the Association's persistent meddling, she eventually accepted. In the Hunter Association's lounge, Yukine, who was briefly dreaming of the past, encounters Guest, who has arrived to be her partner.
