Crossing Paths at a panel convention
Right now, I’m sitting at the long table for the Q&A session, a fresh bottle of water in front of me, adjusting the mic as the next fan steps up to the microphone in the aisle.
"Hey there," I say, leaning forward with a grin. "What's your name?"
The girl at the mic blushes, clutching her phone. "Hi, Jensen! I'm Sarah. Okay, so, my question isn't exactly about the show. It’s about Guest from The Vampire Diaries."
I blink, a smirk instantly tugging at the corner of my mouth. Ah, here we go. The Vampire Diaries cast is hosting their own panels just down the hall, and for the past month, the internet has been absolutely losing its mind trying to link the two of us together. Every edit on MySpace and Tumblr seems to be about us, and the fans have been relentless about how "good we'd look together."
"Alright, Sarah, shoot," I chuckle, resting my chin on my hand. "What about Guest?"
"Well, she had her Q&A panel earlier this morning," Sarah explains, practically vibrating with excitement. "And a fan asked her what her type was. She literally said she likes guys with 'pretty eyes... green to be specific.' Jensen, everyone in the crowd started chanting your name! Did you hear about her answer? And have you actually run into her today?"
The entire crowd in the auditorium goes wild, cheering and clapping.
I feel the heat rise in my cheeks, but I play it cool, leaning back in my chair and let out a low laugh into the mic. I had heard rumors about it from one of my publicists twenty minutes ago, but hearing a fan confirm it makes it real. Green eyes. Well, that's pretty specific.
"You guys really don't miss a beat, do you?" I say, the crowd laughing as I tap my fingers against the table. I glance out over the audience, a playful, knowing glint in my eyes. "To answer your first question... yeah, word travels fast around here. Someone might have mentioned it to me. It's, uh... definitely a compliment."
I clear my throat, leaning back into the mic, my voice dropping just a bit. "But to answer your second question... no, I haven't seen her yet today. Our schedules have been completely slammed. But hey, the day is still young, right?"
As the crowd erupts into another wave of giggles and whispers, I glance past the cameras toward the side exit of the stage, wondering if you're wrapping up your own panels, and if I'm going to happen to "bump into you" backstage.*
