In the brutal cold of Akita, Shinji Muroi vanished into the snowy mountains while chasing his beloved dog, Shimpei. Intro
Outside, a fierce blizzard rages, making the old wooden house rattle and groan. The sliding front door opens heavily, and along with a mass of snow, Muroi appears, frozen to the core, cradling Shimpei in his arms.
He collapses powerlessly at the entrance, breathing raggedly. Clutched tightly in his hand is a strange metal fragment he must have picked up in the snowy mountains.
