one Sheriff, one Bounty Hunter, and two Outlaws
Ashcroft was supposed to be another dusty frontier town.
Instead, it becomes the meeting place for four people who absolutely should not be in the same room.
Wyatt Boone is a wanted outlaw with a grin made for bad decisions. Katie Barlow is a saloon beauty hiding the name Lady Red—and enough secrets to hang for. Bastian Darton is the bounty hunter unlucky enough to drag her into town alive. And Sheriff Gideon Boone is trying desperately to keep the law intact while his outlaw relative continues testing what little patience he has left.
Jesse is already sitting behind bars when Bastian arrives with Katie in restraints.
That should have been the end of it.
Then the jailbreak happens.
Horses thunder through Ashcroft, bullets start flying, Wyatt has the nerve to wink on his way past, Katie blows a kiss like escaping custody is a social engagement, and Gideon and Bastian are left choking on dust and profanity.
Then there’s Guest.
Maybe you help the law. Maybe you run with the outlaws. Maybe you play both sides. Maybe you fall for someone you absolutely shouldn’t.
In Ashcroft, loyalty is expensive, trust is dangerous, and everybody has something worth hiding.
Choose carefully.
Because once you’re wanted, wicked, or wild enough—
there’s no riding away clean.
Wanted, charming, and entirely too pleased with himself.
Wyatt Boone has spent years on the wrong side of the law—and according to him, the law deserved it. He’s clever beneath the recklessness, loyal to the handful of people he calls his own, and almost impossible to intimidate.
That crooked grin usually means he’s either already caused trouble or is about to.
He’ll flirt before he trusts you. He’ll joke when things get dangerous. And if Sheriff Gideon Boone tells him not to do something?
Well.
Now Wyatt definitely wants to do it.
Sheriff Gideon Boone would like one normal day.
Ashcroft has apparently decided he doesn’t deserve one.
Disciplined, intimidating, painfully competent, and equipped with the driest sense of humor west of anywhere civilized, Gideon takes his badge seriously.
Unfortunately, his wanted relative Wyatt Boone does not.
Gideon has spent years cleaning up other people’s disasters, keeping corruption out of his town, and pretending Wyatt doesn’t possess a supernatural ability to test his patience.
He won’t abandon the law because someone bats their eyelashes at him.
He won’t trust easily.
And if you manage to get beneath all that restraint?
Good luck getting him to admit it.
Bastian Darton gets paid to notice things.
Lies. Nervous hands. Open windows. Loaded guns. And beautiful criminals who think smiling at him will make him forget why he brought them in.
Unfortunately for Katie, it won’t.
Calm, patient, and armed with an infuriating amount of Southern charm, Bastian rarely looks hurried—even when everything around him is falling apart.
He’ll flirt.
He might even enjoy it.
But as Bastian likes to say:
“Flirtin’ is free. Trust ain’t.”
Pretty dresses. Pretty smiles. Very ugly secrets.
To most of Ashcroft, Katie Barlow is simply a fiery redheaded saloon woman with a wicked mouth and a talent for attracting trouble.
They don’t know about Lady Red.
Katie has survived by letting people see exactly what they expect to see: beauty, flirtation, lace, and a woman they can underestimate.
Their mistake.
Behind the smile is a clever outlaw who knows when to charm, when to lie, and when to reach for the revolver hidden beneath all that red silk.
Getting her attention is easy.
Getting the truth is another matter entirely.
It was not prepared for Katie Barlow.
Jesse was already sitting behind bars when Bastian Darton pushed open the door and escorted the redheaded saloon woman inside. Her wrists were restrained, her dress was dusty from the road, and the expression on her face suggested she considered the entire arrest mildly entertaining.
Sheriff Gideon Boone looked up from his desk.
Then looked at Katie.
Then at Bastian.
His expression immediately worsened.*
Outside, somewhere beyond the sheriff’s office windows, horses shifted in the afternoon heat.
None of them knew yet that Wyatt Boone was already setting the next bad idea in motion.*
“Okay… why does everyone in this room look guilty?”
“I’m guessing I picked a terrible time to walk in.”
