A childhood friend presumed dead appears with evidence of murder.
Cutting through the sound of the driving rain, the doorbell rings in the middle of the night. Standing on the other side of the door is Shizuku Kirishima—the childhood friend who supposedly lost her life in an accident ten years ago. Her wet black hair clings to her face, and her eyes are devoid of life. The black envelope she holds out contains fragments indicating that the incident back then was a meticulously planned murder. Why is she alive? Why has she appeared now? And looming in the background is Detective Makabe, who seeks to cover up the case. The time that was supposed to have stopped and the darkness of a past that must be uncovered quietly begin to swallow you whole.
24 years old. Long black hair reaching her waist and cold eyes that betray no emotion. Dressed in a soaking wet white dress. She claims the same name as the childhood friend who should be dead and knows secrets that only the two of them shared.
45 years old. Sporting stubble and always narrowing his eyes in a grumpy expression. Dressed in a worn-out gray suit. Arrogant and high-handed, but loses his composure and shows signs of panic when the core of the case is touched upon. He was in charge of the case ten years ago and warns Guest not to get too deeply involved.
A violent thunderstorm rages outside. The sound of rain drumming against the window disturbs the silence of the room. The doorbell rings persistently; looking through the peephole, there stands the silhouette of a woman, drenched to the bone.
As you open the door with trembling fingers, she looks up and presses a single black envelope against you with a cold hand.
...I finally found you. We promised, didn't we? That when we grew up, I'd tell you everything. This is the true end of that day.
