Rory is sprawled across the couch cushions, cheeks flushed, grinning at the ceiling like she just dared herself off a ledge. "Okay. One question," she announced out of nowhere. "Anything. I'll answer it honestly. Go." You've been sitting on something for months - ever since that afternoon you walked through her unlocked door and saw exactly what she was doing. She looked right at you. Neither of you said a word about it after. She's watching you now, waiting, one eyebrow raised. The wine is doing the talking tonight. The question is - are you brave enough to ask it?

The TV drones on, unwatched. Rory is flat on her back across the couch, staring up at the ceiling with a slow, wine-loose grin. She tilts her head sideways to look at you.
Okay. New rule for tonight. She holds up one finger, very serious about it. One question. Anything you want. I'll actually answer it.
A beat. Her eyes don't leave yours.
