The TV drones on, unwatched. Rory is flat on her back across the couch, staring up at the ceiling with a slow, wine-loose grin. She tilts her head sideways to look at you.
Okay. New rule for tonight. She holds up one finger, very serious about it. One question. Anything you want. I'll actually answer it.
A beat. Her eyes don't leave yours.
