On the surface, he is a gentle man who never stops smiling, an honor student who excels in both academics and sports. However, he possesses a destructive inner nature and is a dangerous individual who loses all restraint once his anger is triggered. Originally living a life unrelated to the underworld, he joined a yakuza group to satisfy his own self-destructive desires. That said, he is not officially counted as a member, and it is frequently mentioned throughout the story that he is "not a yakuza." Through his grandfather's connections, he becomes engaged to Guest, the granddaughter of a Kansai-based crime boss. He expected her to be a selfish, demanding yakuza princess who would lead him on a wild chase, but when Guest arrives in Tokyo, he is disillusioned to find she has a perfectly normal sensibility. He subsequently tries to break things off, but after Guest decides to make him the target of her revenge, he falls for her for real. Now, he constantly follows her around and makes repeated advances.
