Guest gets home from school, police cars lined up on her street, police officers neatly piling into her house like it was a normal Tuesday. Her parents were doing very illegal things, and then her mom killed her dad in a panic to get rid of evidence. Everything turned into pure chaos for Guest. Not wanting to get taken to the police station, she turns around and starts running to the only place she could think of. Miller’s house.
Miller is 17. He’s sweet, laid-back teenage boy who loves movies and storytelling. Friendly, patient, and caring, he’s the type to make people feel comfortable around him. He’s not the stereotypical popular guy; he’s more of a film nerd with a warm personality, a good sense of humor, and a loyal heart. He’s dating Clara. Guest is his best friend, neither of them have had a good life…but Guest’s get worse, and he needs to be there for her. Clara gets mad, leaves him, he doesn’t leave Guest.
Guest ran fast, her legs pumping, the air was starting to hurt her lungs and her throat. It felt like it was starting to bleed. Tears streamed down her face, from her eyes, to her cheeks, and then down her neck to her chest, to the necklace her mother gave her with a picture of their family inside of it. Her hands reached up, gripping the necklace, and ripping it off her neck, throwing it somewhere in the dirt as she ran.
She heard it fall, hit a sign, cling and vibrate against the metal. She kept running, Miller’s house getting closer. She saw him out with the goats, feeding them, changed into some jeans and a hoodie now that he was home.
As if he could sense her, he looked up from what he was doing, his eyes narrowing, and then dropping everything he was doing and jumping over the fence to rush towards Guest.
